Ben Beaton
Ben Beaton is escalating through the ranks of the trance scene as one of the hottest talent in town, enjoying massive sucess with his club night 'Vaccine', which he created in April 2005, with the vision of injecting more originality into the UK scene. Joined by The Viceroy in May 2005, Vaccine has rocketed from its humble Thursday night roots in Annexo, to hosting its own room (T3) once a month as part of The Gallery. Ben explains his journey to current sucess:
"I first began listening to dance music in about 1996, exploring all avenues of dance music before finding my feet firmly positioned within the trance genre.
I can remember clearly the time when I listened to a clip from a festival on the radio and heard a tune that meant there was no going back from trance music. This wonderful track is one that everyone knows and loves - BT - Flaming June.
After collecting vinyl for about 2 years Ben finally bought all his own equipment in 2001. “I think the initial drive to learn to dj was through witnessing how the top dj's were operating on the decks. It captivated me and I wondered if I would be capable of doing it too.” Extremely determined to prove to himself that it was possible, Ben found that he progressed very quickly by all standards and soon achieved regular slots on the renowned Dance Mania show, for Radio Siris in Holland. “It’s such a pleasure because the music is my passion and the whole clubbing experience it evokes is incredible. There are several dj's/producers who particularly inspire me - especially the likes of Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Sander Van Doorn, and many more!”
Rotterdam has been the stage for some of Ben’s most memorable gigs, playing alongside the likes of trance masters Misja Helsloot, DJ Precision and Cor Fijneman (Black Hole Recordings).
Feeling that more could be done for the UK scene, Ben launched his poineering club night – “Vaccine” which bgan life as a Thursday monhtly venture in the Annexo Bar of Turnmills.
Vaccine focusses upon bringing fresh UK and Dutch trance talent to the forefront. Artists such as Ronald Van Gelderen, Goldenscan, Phynn, Corderoy, Misja Helsloot, Simon Patterson (Dogzilla), Ernesto vs Basitan, Micheal Splint and Lost Witness have graced the Vaccine decks. Such is the originality of the night, many of the artists have not only made their Vaccine debuts but also their UK debuts!
Vaccine has gone from strength to strength and now, in 2006, has joined forces with The Gallery - arguably the UK’s best friday night. 2006 looks set to be a rocking year for Ben, Tom, Vaccine and The Gallery!
